Types of Communication

There are different forms types of communications. We not only use these types in the academic community but in are everyday life. Alternative types of communication can be split in to three main categories. The first categories id oral communication, not only do we use this type of communication when giving a speech or talk we use it every day in our lives. The second type is non-verbal communication. Examples of this are using sign language or your body language. Written communication is the final categories of communication. There are many different types of written communication and this is what I will explore in my report. Written communication can take many different forms. There are academic forms such as reports and essays. Or there are more personal types such as diaries or notes. The advantages of written communications are that people tend to be more concise when writing things down that if there where to give an oral presentation. Accuracy of written communication is also an advantage as your work is more permanent and you tend to be less vague if you write things down. The disadvantages of written communications are that if you are presenting some thing in a written form you have to guard against people misinterpreting your work. If you where to present the same material in an oral presentation people could as you questions and thus you can give a direct definition of meaning. You can also control who listen to you oral presentation but with any form of written work you do not know who will read it. This means you will have to take more care of what you say and how you say it.
